Come On In. I'll Show You Around! (Part 1)

In honor of Christmas coming up soon, I'm going to spend the next few posts giving you a virtual tour of mi casa decked out in its holiday finery. You must know 2 things about me. Number one...I love to decorate houses. Number 2...I love Christmas. Consequently, putting those two things together, decorating for Christmas, makes me want jump from cloud to cloud while eating a lollipop and slide down a rainbow (metaphorically speaking of course.)

Follow me, I'll begin the tour! This is the front porch...

Let's go in the front door and check out the ....

living room. Now, I'm kind of a lover of themes. I think a theme can give you a direction when it comes to decorating. The theme of my living room is "family."

The living room has our family memories tree with ornaments from my childhood and Doc's, too! Now we hang ornaments each year that belong to our children! With four kids, the tree gets full fast!

Our nativity takes center stage. It was a gift for me from my inlaws. Doc's parents must really love me! I love getting it out each year and setting it up with the kids pointing out which figurine is whom.

Next stop is the dining room!

The theme for this room is the 12 days of Christmas! Each chair has a number for each of the 12 days. We just happen to have 12 adults in my family that come for Christmas dinner.

These plates were the inspiration for the 12 days of Christmas decorations. I love them and mix them with my white china to have enough place settings!

Here is a close up of the tree. I photographed the plates and printed out a cropped version of each image to make 12 paper ornaments that matched.

Next is my vintage kitchen. I love how sweet it looks at Christmas time!

Here's the "kid" table...waiting at the ready for some gingerbread cookie eaters.

Last but not least (for the first floor), the tree in Doc's office. Can you guess where he went to college and med school?

Rock Chalk, Jayhawk. Go KU!

Now on to the stairs.

You'll have to check out my other Christmas house tour post to see the rest!!!

( My little ones have decorated a tree with the ornaments we used when their parents (we have three who are or are becoming doctors within the next two years... plus a nurse midwife, so we have something in common:)) were little too...I just haven't posted it yet.

Merry Christmas!

I love the sign on your Christmas tree...reminds me of what the rules were for my sister and me growing up! We were so good at guessing, that we could just shake it a little and spoil the surprise completely! LOL :)

Your home is lovely.

Your idea of copying your plates for ornaments on your tree was very clever. Wish I had those plates to do the same! Loved your vintage kitchen. Thanks for sharing.
