Putting Things in Perspective

We made an offer on a house on December 14th. We still have not heard a response from the mortgage company that "holds the power". It is a messy situation and is requiring more patience than I usually can muster. Immediate gratification is my middle name. Even through all this God is working. He's telling me that he has it all under control and is working it out for our best. He's also trying to teach me that I need to grow a little in the patience department.

I learned a very effective lesson last night. I have been struggling to take my thoughts captive and not be irritated about "our" house and then I found out that some of our friends from Indiana, Tony and Kristin, have a sister-in-law that landed in Haiti for a missions trip on Monday. As you all know by now, there was 7.0 magnitude earthquake on Tuesday and Colleen nor anyone in her group have had contact with their families since before the quake. All their families can do is wait. My Mom said, "Sometimes waiting can be a form of suffering." I think that is true in their situation. I can't even imagine the uncertainty and helplessness of having no way of knowing if your loved one is ok or not.

Suddenly waiting to hear about a house doesn't seem so painful.

Please pray that they are alright and that they will find a way to contact their families soon.

UPDATE: THE GROUP WAS FOUND TO BE SAFE AND SOUND AND HAD EXITED THE BUILDING THEY WERE IN JUST MINUTES BEFORE IT COLLAPSED! WE ARE THANKING GOD FOR THEIR SAFETY AND FOR PROVIDING INFORMATION ON THEIR WHEREABOUTS!

I know JUST what you are talking about. I think we are, unfortunately, an immediate gratification PEOPLE. We are SOOOooo blessed in this life as compared to the real plight some people endure. Thank GOD for your friend being well!
