This house feels like it should sit on a lake. It is on 5 acres with a big sweeping window in the living room. Doc and I feel like it lends itself to a more "cabinish" or "lodgey" look but how do you do that without going overboard on the cheese factor. I don't want fishing poles hanging on the wall when we don't have a lake to fish in. You know, I want it to be us and real but still jive with the property and bones of the house.
I told Doc that I want it to look like Ralph Lauren. Classic America. A little of this....

Mostly this...

Here is our starting point..
Entryway. Love the light fixture. Not crazy about the door but it works and it stays for now.
Now, here's what I've found from Mr. Lauren that inspires me...
1. leather chairs with red and black plaid (I also dig the wicker dining chairs)
2. Native American type tapestries (again lots of red)!

Here's what we have going for us...

I'm thinking that I could change out the heavy plaid and tapestry look for quilts in the spring and summer with lighter and brighter colors. And also, we must have denim. I think it would work!

Love that you are posting! Yeah, the house is a HUGE change. But, you have the basics. Love your inspiration rooms. You could easily recreate and seasonally redecorate. :-) What a fun problems to be facing. :-)
I'm really likin' the combo, I think you need to do some more tanning to get YOUR leather look going...OK, that wasn't funny. I like the quilts into the mix, quirky!
Looks like you have a great start....and lots of good ideas.
I'm sure you will be fabulous.
